Mijas coastline keeps top ratings

Mijas Coastline remains top of the ratings

Mijas once again proved why its coast is among the finest on the Costa del Sol. The town was awarded a number of important recognitions in 2025. These include its commitment to quality and sustainability, its accessibility, as well as the Blue Flags it has earned for its beaches.

The awards include nine important seals of quality, five Blue Flags, the Blue Centre at El Torreón La Cala, and the Blue Path along the coastal walk. Four beaches – La Cala, El Bombo, Riviera and La Luna Royal Beach – have also kept their universal accessibility certifications, making them easier for everyone to enjoy, including visitors with reduced mobility. The Spanish Tourism Quality Institute (ISTQ) and the Foundation for Environmental Education awarded these awards, which place Mijas as one of the top municipalities for beach quality, accessibility and sustainability in Spain.

Councillor for Beaches, Daniel Gómez, said: “We have the best coastline on the Costa del Sol and these recognitions prove it. Our beaches are kept clean, safe and comfortable for all visitors. “This reflects the commitment of the town to maintain high standards for both residents and tourists.”

The renovations will make the coastline of Mijas more enjoyable for both locals and tourists. These improvements also demonstrate that the town is prepared to welcome visitors through the autumn months and into next years, offering a safe and accessible destination with an environmentally friendly environment.

Residents responded positively to social media posts, praising Mijas’ natural beauty and charm. Many residents welcomed the focus on sustainability, cleanliness and accessibility.

Mijas has achieved a lot, which reinforces its reputation as one of the top destinations on the Costa del Sol. It combines scenic beauty and high standards for both visitors and residents. Mijas is an example of sustainability in tourism, with its Blue Flag beaches, improved accessibility, and commitment to environmental standards.
