Migas, culture, and oranges. Celebrating Andalucia in Antas – CSN News

On the 28th of February, the town of Antas will celebrate Día de Andalucía with a lively programme of events in La Era del Lugar (The Threshing Floor), combining tradition, community spirit, and local flavours.

Radio-controlled Mini Z cars will be on display at 11AM to provide entertainment for all ages. The town will celebrate Andalucia at midday with a flag raising ceremony. A performance by the parish church choir will accompany the ceremony.

The culinary tradition of 14 p.m. will be highlighted with a Migas Competition to showcase the skills of teams in preparing the classic Andalusian dish (traditional breadcrumb). Participants must register with the Culture Office by 24 February, and they are required to bring their own ingredients. Three dishes will be rewarded with prizes.

At 2.30 pm, the competition will focus on sweets and celebrate the oranges of the region. The deadline for submitting entries is 1 pm. The top three winning creations will be rewarded.

At 4 PM, two local flamenco ensembles will conclude the festivities. Alma Andaluza Conchi Lopez (Andalusian Soul), and Nova Dance, directed by Juan Carlos Gallardo and Dolores Simón.

The event will feature a variety of refreshments, sweets traditional to the region, and activities for children, creating a fun atmosphere.

Celebrate community, food and heritage

By hosting both the Matanza Festival and Dia de Andalucía, Antas continues to uphold and celebrate its cultural heritage. These events are not only a way of preserving local traditions, but also a chance for the younger generation to learn about their history and enjoy the social and festive aspects Andalusian culture.
