Marra’s legacy: two heartwarming events in November to save stray dogs’ paws

The Costa del Sol is preparing for the holiday season. Two big events are planned this month to support Marra’s legacy, the volunteer-run rescue that specializes in bully breed dogs.

The abandoned animals are facing tough odds. These gatherings promise games, laughter, and generosity so that every tail wag gets a chance. The motto of the charity reminds us that “we are their voice” and in November everyone comes together to amplify it.

The first Marra’s Charity Night will kick off the month on Saturday, 8 November at the cozy Estepona venue De la Mar across from Estepona Harbour. Doors open at 6:30pm, with the quiz starting at 7pm. Teams of four trivia lovers are invited to participate in a quiz to test their knowledge and raise vital funds. Entry is a steal at €25 per team, with the added thrill of a raffle at €5 per ticket. What’s the real thrill? Exclusive auction of a luxury 1.5-hour boat trip for four people, including a gourmet meal at the picturesque Restaurant De La Mar overlooking the Mediterranean.

This will be an evening filled with brainpower and bidding battles to support Marra’s Legacy. The charity, registered no. 15256, was created by British expat Laura Gibbins in honor of beloved bulldog Marra. The 15256 charity is dedicated to saving stigmatised breeds of bully dogs, such as Staffies and Bulldogs, from abuse, neglect and euthanasia. From emergency vet treatment to behavioural rehabilitation and loving adoptions – every euro helps change lives.

On Saturday, November 29th, the festive spirit reaches its zenith with the Smokey’s Bar’s Annual Christmas Market. This full-day event, which begins at noon on Saturday, November 29, will turn holiday cheer into action to save the lives of Fuengirola’s voiceless pets. The market stalls are brimming over with goodies and crafts. Also, there will be bingo, a quiz at 2pm followed by music bingo and killer pool at 4pm. At 8pm a raffle is drawn.

Fuengi is a compassionate city. In a town where there are more stray cats than homes, this event shows the compassion of Fuengi. You can make a difference whether you’re an animal lover, bargain hunter, quiz master, or bargain hunter. Laura Gibbins says, “Together we can make a difference.” For details or to volunteer, reach out to the organisers – let’s fill those bowls and baskets this November.
