Marbella Council has unanimously voted to name a roundabout leading to Sierra Blanca in honour of María Bravo, recognising her extraordinary contributions to the community through her charitable work.
Just 300 metres from Casa Ángeles, the day centre for children with special needs founded by Bravo, the roundabout symbolises her steadfast commitment to social inclusion and support for vulnerable families.
This decision was announced in a plenary meeting and celebrates Bravo’s efforts, particularly those made through her Global Gift Foundation which she founded in 2013. The foundation has driven meaningful initiatives, including Casa Ángeles. The centre, which will be opened in 2021 following extensive renovations, will provide 12,000 therapy sessions per year, support 2,246 users and 739 families. It employs 25 people, creates 30 indirect job opportunities, and provides employment for 25 staff. It offers 44 monthly inclusive activity groups—such as swimming, music, art, and socio-emotional programs—and hosts 130 children in its inclusive summer camp.
Bravo stated, “This honor deeply touches me.” It is not just me who has been recognized, but the collective efforts of many people working for a more inclusive and just world.
The roundabout’s proximity to Casa Ángeles underscores its significance as the main gateway to the hub of Bravo’s humanitarian efforts. The roundabout was named after Bravo in 2021 when Estepona Council dedicated a plaza to her contribution to the Costa del Sol.
Casa Ángeles, a perfect example of Bravo’s legacy, provides personalised therapies and a nurturing environment to promote social integration for children and young people with special needs. Global Gift Foundation is committed to uplifting vulnerable communities around the world through advocacy and fundraising.
