Emergency plan to repair Marbella’s potholed roads ahead of the summer season

Marbella’s roads are in need of urgent repairs before the summer season.

The Marbella City Council initiated an urgent plan to resurface 25 streets spread throughout the entire municipality.

This action will cover an area of 43.754 square meters and aims to improve road safety in preparation for the summer season. It also aims to repair the damage caused by recent rains.

The Councilor for Works, Diego Lopez, explained that this intervention is part of a planned strategy to ‘minimize inconvenience to citizens’.

Lopez said that the need for an urgent action was a result of incidents occurring on roads where the pavement is no longer safe.

The first phase of the project will start on 12 May in the East District. For a period of three weeks, asphalting will be done on roads like Juan de la Cierva and Conquistador Aguirre.

The plan will conclude in Nueva Andalucía, with interventions on main arteries such as Jorge Manrique Street, Julio Iglesias Avenue, Rio Volga Street and Manolete Avenue.

“Controlled traffic cuts will be used throughout the process to prioritize the mobility and accessibility of residents, he said.

Lopez concluded that “the volume of traffic is expected to increase with the arrival summer. It is therefore essential to complete these works as soon as possible so our streets will be in optimal safety condition.”
