Marbella’s iconic Los Monteros hotel to reopen after ‘luxury’ rebrand – CSN News

The iconic Los Monteros Hotel in Marbella is scheduled to reopen under the luxury Kimpton label this week.

Jose Carlos Garcia is the Michelin starred chef of Malaga.

The five-star venue will reopen on February 25 under the leadership and management of the American luxury brand Kimpton, a brand of IHG Hotels and Resorts.

The property was extensively renovated after closing its doors in the year 2022.

With 60 exclusive suites, the hotel ‘preserves the essence of Los Monteros’, with an ‘indulgent and casual atmosphere.’

The first hotel in Spain to be awarded five stars opened its doors in 1962. It was a popular destination for the rich and famous.

The hotel is led by Garcia and focuses on its gastronomic offerings, including a restaurant with terrace, a lounge bar, a pool bar, and sand club.

Garcia said, “We’re working on a unique project that you haven’t seen anywhere else on the Costa del Sol.”

The luxe La Cabane by Dolce & Gabana beach club will be managed by Mosh group and work with Malaga-born chef Dani Garcia.

Kimpton already has hotels in Barcelona and Mallorca. This is the first Kimpton hotel to open in Andalucia.

The hotel is owned by Bain Capital and Stoneweg asset management, who hope the venue will be a ‘flagship’ for the chain in southern Europe.

El Corzo was the first restaurant in Spain, when the hotel opened its doors, to be awarded with a Michelin star.

Marbella’s first golf club was opened in conjunction with its tennis, equestrian and horse riding clubs.

La Cabane was also a revolutionary beach club, opening its doors in 1965.

The first guests to stay at the hotel were King Juan Carlos, Queen Sofia, Queen Ingrid, Julio Iglesias and Sean Connery.
