Marbella’s new extravagant state-of-the-art sports centre

Marbella’s brand new state-of-the art sports centre

A new athletics stadium in Nueva Andalucia is about to transform sports and leisure opportunities for the local community, with a project investment exceeding €12.2 million.

Four bids have been submitted for construction. It is estimated that it will take 24 months.

The facility, which is state-of-the art, will include a 400 metre track with eight lanes that can be used for national competitions. The venue will be more versatile with a full-size football field on the artificial turf inside the track. The complex will include a covered stadium for 1,000 spectators as well as a two-storey facility with changing rooms, gym, conference room, space for sports clubs and cafeteria. It will also have administrative offices, technical area, administrative offices and a 640 square metre indoor warming-up track.

The project goes beyond the stadium, as it includes a fully-developed site, including access roads, a car park with 64 spaces, landscaped gardens and recreational areas, lighting systems, drainage, paving and perimeter fencing. The facility will connect with the Guadaiza promenade to integrate it in the surrounding area, and expand the public recreation spaces.

The athletics track will be completed in the first year, and the football field within 12 months. This allows the community to begin using the facilities before the full completion of the project.
