Marbella shock as 84-year old man repeatedly stabs wife to death

An 84 year old Marbella resident has been arrested on suspicion of fatally stabbing her 83 year old wife in their home.

A court placed him in pre-trial custody on Monday and ordered that he undergo a mental evaluation to determine his state of mind.

Last Friday, an attack took place in their home in Elvira-Las Chapas in Marbella.

The couple’s nephew called the emergency services.

Eva, the victim’s name, suffered multiple stab injuries as well as defensive wounds. Paramedics were unable to save Eva’s life.

According to reports, the man killed his wife with a machete measuring 20 centimetres.

Policia Nacional detained him at the home of his family.

The couple’s relatives claimed to be unaware of any issues between them, but they were quoted as saying that the El Mundo newspaper that the man ‘had not been focused’ for some time.

A niece implied her uncle suffered from mental health issues.

The couple had lived at Calle Ciudad de los Periodistas for several years and had never reported any incidents of gender-based violence.

The neighbours were shocked by the events.
