Marbella police to have bodycams recording every second

Marbella’s police have now been equipped with body-cameras to provide irrefutable evidence in cases of aggressive, criminal or threatening behavior.

The chest-worn devices record live footage that can then be used as evidence in court. They also provide a transparent, objective account of the incident to protect officers and citizens.

The bodycam initiative was launched as a trial with eight cameras supplied by Telefonica. It allows Marbella’s police to capture interactions in the street and send footage directly into a control center. The system can be activated manually and captures the two minutes before the officer presses the button. This ensures that critical moments do not get missed. This feature gives a more accurate and broader perspective on incidents. It allows the control room staff to better assess situations, and then deploy resources such as firefighters, medical teams or backup patrols if necessary.
