Due to the severe damage caused by recent heavy rains and complaints from residents, Marbella Council announced an urgent plan of action involving 200 repairs in order to restore 3,900 square meters of damaged roads across five districts. The plan, backed by a €450,000 investment, has the intention of rapidly improving road safety and minimising disruptions for daily commuters.

The plan addresses the wear and tears caused by excessive rainfall that has created dangerous holes in high traffic areas.

Repair the worst damaged roads first

The first phase of repairs will focus on the worst-affected areas in a phased approach over the next two month, ensuring synchronized execution to maintain traffic flow and limit inconvenience for the public. The first phase of work includes:

  • Distrito Este: Streets Vicente Blasco Ibáñez and Salduba, plus the section of the old N-340 near the Marbella Arch.
  • Marbella Oeste: Streets Parra and Jacinto Benavente, along with Avenida de España.
  • San Pedro Alcantara: Calle Castilla (Carril de La Picaza) and the urban section of the A-397 Road (Ronda Road).
  • Nueva Andalucia: Streets Río Volga and Jorge Manrique, and Avenida del Prado.
  • Las Chapas Avenida Andasol y Calle Pastoral.

The council has emphasized the focus on efficiency in this project: “The works will take place in a progressive and organised manner. This will improve street conditions quickly and efficiently while bolstering Marbella’s overall road safety.” The phased approach, they added, will “contribute the well-being and the quality of public space for all neighbours.”

Marbella officials have described this initiative as an proactive step in order to ensure mobility and safety at the busy Costa del Sol, where both tourism and local traffic depend on a reliable infrastructure. As the repairs progress, the council is committed to providing transparent updates.
