Marbella Town hall has announced an expansion of their home help service, giving peace of mind and security to elderly residents who are vulnerable, particularly expats who live alone or away from family.
The new service offers up to 39,000 monthly hours of in-home help, assisting over 1,000 users daily with tasks like cleaning, personal care and shopping. With a €48 million investment, the programme aims to ensure no one is left without support.
This is good news for Marbella’s elderly population, especially British residents and foreigners who are widowed or live independently. This scheme is a welcome initiative for expats living on the Costa del Sol who worry about accessing local assistance in times of crisis.
The new contract offers expanded hours, a more individualized care plan, and enhanced staff training for improved quality care. These services are available for people with limited mobility or chronic illness.
If you’re an expat in Marbella or San Pedro Alcántara and want to know your eligibility, contact the Social Services Department at your nearest local town hall (Ayuntamiento). Information is available in several languages and applications can be submitted with assistance.
Living alone does not mean being alone. Marbella’s expansion makes it easier for expats in the area to age comfortably and safely.
