Marbella has set its sights on the future and is exploring new business and technology links with China. The mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, recently welcomed a delegation from Hangzhou, a major innovation hub in Asia, to discuss possible collaboration between the two cities.
The goal is to connect Marbella with international markets by creating a global platform of science, technology and business. Both sides discussed the creation of an incubator for startup companies, with a focus on innovation and entrepreneurialism. Marbella would gain a stronger presence in the global technology scene. It could also open up new opportunities for local business and talent.
Mayor Muñoz highlighted the importance of the visit, saying it shows Marbella’s growing reputation as a town that supports innovation and smart development. She described Marbella’s quality of living and its dynamic, fast-growing business eco system as unique.
Tan Qinghai said that the Chinese delegation was impressed with what Marbella does to support technology. He called on both cities to have a friendly exchange and expressed his interest in starting joint projects with Europe and beyond.
If the plan is implemented, it will bring investment, new jobs, and a fresh wind to the local economy, while strengthening the ties with the leading technology region in the world.
