Marbella council has renewed its partnership with the DYA Association to sustain the Food Security Program, setting aside €180,000 this year.
Since its inception, the Food Security Program has helped over 400 families in Marbella, offering a helping hand through ‘wallet cards’ valued between €100 and €150, depending on each household size. The cards contain cash that can be used at supermarkets in the area to purchase food and hygiene items. It is a great way to ease the financial burdens. The cards are redeemed in local supermarkets, and the cash can be used to purchase food or hygiene products. This helps ease daily financial burdens.
DYA (Detente Y Ayuda / Stop and Help) Manager Paqui Muñoz praised the council’s continued generosity, stressing the council’s donations as a vital role during tough times. She emphasized how the program helps families to make ends meet by providing essential necessities. The cards work like vouchers for shopping and are customized to each family’s size. You can apply via the DYA site.
The simple aid process is essential to many people, providing timely economic assistance that improves quality of life. The commitment of the Marbella Council shows its sustained efforts to boost community cohesion and make a significant difference for those who are in need.
Signed by Mayor Ángeles Muñoz and DYA President Francisco Mejías, the agreement brings the council’s total investment since the programme’s 2020 launch to over €1.2 million. The initiative aims to help the most vulnerable families in the city by providing them with prepaid cards that can be used for essential purchases.
