Marbella 4 Days Walking fast approaching

Marbella 4 Days Walking is celebrating its 14th anniversary this year. 3,000 people will lace up for an exciting celebration of nature, sport and culture.

The event continues to grow, as it is the most popular on Marbella’s autumn calendar. Visitors from all over the world come to the city during the quieter months, which helps to boost tourism after the summer crowds have faded.

The Netherlands ambassador to Spain will be present at the opening ceremony on October 1. Three distinct routes are available to participants: a 10-kilometre route in green, a route of 20-kilometres in blue, and a route of 30 kilometres around the lake. The more adventurous can choose from two mountain circuits that include an ascent of Refugio de Juanar. About 3 per cent of those who take part in these tougher trails are attracted by their physical and scenic challenges.

The 2018 event was moved by almost a full week in order to avoid the Pilar Holiday. This will make it even more enjoyable. The organizers are already planning 2026 and hope to reach 5,000 participants to satisfy the growing popularity of the event. Notably, the event is unique in that 69 per cent are women.

Marbella 4 Days Walking, an initiative of Dutch expats in Spain, now draws 17 nationalities. These include walkers from Germany and France, as well as Colombia, Japan, and Colombia. The number of Spanish is also increasing. Plaza del Mar, in addition to the trails, will feature foodtrucks, dancing, and live music. Over 100 volunteers and security, medical and rescue services will ensure that the event runs smoothly and is enjoyable for everyone.
