Marbella has taken action to reduce the rental market, by accelerating the construction of 1,000 temporary homes. Under new regional rules, private developers can receive municipal land for free. The first site, in Las Chapas, will be able to accommodate around 280 rental homes at affordable prices.
These houses are for people who have moved to Marbella on business and require short- or medium-term housing. These include seasonal workers, public employees who have been relocated and other professionals that struggle to find housing. The properties are available at a fixed price and can be rented for as little as a few weeks or as long s two years depending on your needs.
The mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, said the initiative will help reduce pressure on the long-term rental market while supporting the local workforce. She confirmed the review of more plots for similar uses in Marbella San Pedro Alcantara Nueva Andalucia.
The announcement is in line with other efforts to provide affordable housing that are already underway throughout the municipality. There are 73 homes for the public in Nueva andalucia, as well as 84 units in San Pedro Alcantara. Also included in this list are new rental apartments for young people at the former Language School. Developers are showing a lot of interest in Marbella’s efforts to provide more affordable housing. This is a great step forward for the city’s housing shortage.
