Manhunt underway on the Costa del Sol after armed robber ‘holds hotel receptionist at gunpoint before fleeing with stolen loot’

POLICIA NACIONAL After a horrifying hotel robbery exposed the vulnerability of late-night workers on the Costa del Sol, police are now racing to find a gunman.

A man stole cash from a hotel in Fuengirola on 22nd March at 10:30pm. He entered the reception with a helmet and a gun, then threatened a staff member with it.

Policia Nacional officers were dispatched to the scene within minutes.

The suspect, however, had already escaped by the time the patrols arrived.

Investigators said the man disguised his identity with a helmet, and wore an iridescent jacket to make it harder for anyone to identify him.

According to reports, the security camera footage has become a central part of the case. It shows the suspect approaching reception and pulling out a gun.

The man then pointed his weapon at the receptionist, and demanded that she withdraw money from the cash register.

Under pressure, the employee placed the money into a bag of plastic as instructed.

The suspect was believed to be the only one who committed the robbery. It took just a few minutes.

No injuries were reported when he fled.

Authorities have not disclosed the total amount of stolen money.

Police are reviewing CCTV footage of the suspects’ movements both before and after the crime.

Investigators also work to determine if the suspect had any prior knowledge about the hotel’s layout or the staffing levels.

The Comisaria Provincial de Malaga confirmed that the investigation is still active.

If additional suspects are discovered, officers have not ruled it out that they may make more arrests.

The incident has led to renewed concern about security measures in hotels, especially those located in popular tourist areas.
