Fabrizio Roma, a well-known Italian journalist who specializes in the transfer market reports that 26-year-old Victor Osimhen is the club’s main target. The Nigerian, now loaned by Napoli to Galatasaray, is open to listening to the offer from the ‘Red Devils’.
Manchester United is interested in Victor Osimhen
The two current Manchester United strikers (Danish Rasmus Hojlund, and Dutch Joshua Zirkzee) have both struggled to score goals, with just five Premier League strikes between them.
Ruben Amorim, manager of the club currently ranked 15th in their table, has attacking issues that he needs to resolve before next season. Man. United scored 30 goals in just 26 matches. This is less than Wolves, Crystal Palace, or Fulham.
Osimhen has excelled in his form this season. In 26 games, he scored 20 goals while also contributing five assists. His goals have helped the Turkish club remain unbeaten in Super Lig after 24 weeks. Galatasaray leads the Turkish table, six points ahead of Fenerbahce coached by Jose Mourinho.
Manchester United, as well as other clubs from Europe, are showing a lot of interest in the Nigerian striker despite his numbers and success.
Victor Osimhen in top form
Fabrizio Romao said any decision will depend on United’s budget and the salaries of players.
“He is open to hearing more clubs, including Man United.” Man United will not decide this in February. The budget will determine the outcome,” wrote the Italian journalist in his social media.
Reportedly, the Nigerian has now a £256.000 (€309.000) per week contract. Osimhen may be tempted to play in Saudi Arabia because a European club would find it difficult to pay such a salary.
Osimhen was born in Lagos and came to Europe to play in Belgium for Charleroi. Before moving to Napoli he had made a name for himself at Lille. His 26 goals were instrumental in helping the team win its first Serie A title since over 30 years. He can be a reliable and long-term striker if he joins Manchester United.
