A man has been arrested in Mallorca’s Palma Airport after he bit a Guardia Civil official during a fight over lost luggage.

After being charged with assaulting an officer of law enforcement, the 32-year-old attacker was released by a court.

Authorities have not revealed his nationality or whether he was a tourist with his family.

The incident occurred in the early morning hours of Thursday.

The man, his wife and son went to a closed airline information desk.

On arrival in Palma they found that their luggage had been misplaced by their airline.

The irate traveller banged on the office front door and according to the Guardia Civil, displayed a ‘violent attitude’.

Guardia officers tried to calm him down, but he only became more angry.

He jumped on an officer, and there was a fight where he bit the officer.

The man was restrained, and taken to the police station prior to his court appearance.
