Man on knife rampage in Marbella stabs one and flees into nearby church

After stabbing a man in the abdomen, a man brandishing two knives barricaded inside a Marbella Church on Tuesday.

The Policia Nacional Tasered the 59 year old aggressor in the Divina Pastora on Avenida Europa.

Around 3.30pm, he stabbed his victim with a large blade on Calle Serenata.

The shirtless person then sought refuge in the church, 300 metres from where he was a regular attendee.

It is believed that the parish priest tried his best to calm him, but he may have tried to stab himself once in the stomach.

The police arrived and arrested him.

The cleric said Diario Sur Newspaper reported that the man was not violent, but residents said they had seen him in the street with a knife a few days before.

The detainee did not suffer any major injuries. He was brought to a police department to be questioned.
