A man has been sent to prison for a violent nightclub fight in Marbella that left a security guard permanently injured.
The shocking incident dates back over a decade. A known troublemaker was refused entry into the venue and the victim was shot in the back.
Three men tried to enter a nightclub in Parra Villa Palomeras in November 2012. They arrived in a car.

One of the group – later identified as the main aggressor – was denied entry by bouncers, who recognised him from previous incidents and considered him aggressive and confrontational.
After being refused, the man drove off with his two friends, yelling, “I don’t respect you any more.”

The group quickly changed direction en route towards Fuengirola and stopped at two gas stations in an apparent effort to purchase items for disguise.
According to court documents, the men returned to the club with the aim of ‘teaching the bouncers a lesson.’
The main suspect is said to have retrieved a pistol with a silencer fitted into the glove box of the car, before getting out and yelling at the security personnel.
He opened fire with at least five bullets towards the entrance to the club.
One bullet struck a bouncer on the lower back, as he attempted to take cover behind an parked vehicle.
This injury left him in a wheelchair and severely disabled. It caused severe damage to his spine, kidney, spleen and spleen.
The injuries he sustained required him to spend 155 days hospitalized and nearly two years in order to heal.
The shooter fled at first on foot, but local police officers intercepted him and let go of him, unaware that the incident had just occurred. He is still at-large.
The two other men were then arrested and appeared in court at the Provincial Court, Malaga, earlier this month. It was more than a decade later that the attack took place.
The two reached a plea agreement with the prosecution and admitted their involvement.
One has been sentenced to two years in prison and ordered to pay €285,000 in compensation to the victim.
The second was given a suspended 18-month term, provided he completed community service and met civil liability obligations.
Authorities continue to seek the third suspect believed to have fired a gun.
The prosecution is seeking a sentence of nine years for attempted murder, and two additional years for illegal possession of an prohibited weapon.
The weapon that was used in the attack wasn’t found, but a silencer was recovered from a car and presented as evidence.
According to Spanish law, this device is a prohibited weapon.
The case brought attention to the long delays in the legal system. It took over 12 years for the sentencing process after the incident.
The court acknowledged this in its ruling, granting both defendants reduced sentences due to what was described as an ‘undue delay’ in the legal proceedings.
