Man exploited 40 migrants by cramming them into his flat in Spain and charging €100 per month in rent – CSN News


UP to 40 migrants were crammed into a Valencia region flat and charged around €100 per month to stay.

Police arrested a man aged 24 in Xirivella.

He has been charged with aiding illegal immigration.

The police discovered the abuse when they were helping to evict the apartment due to arrears in payment.

The officers discovered that there were 19 non-Spaniards in the country, 11 of whom had no authorization to be there.

A foreign national who held the lease also lived at that address. According to inquiries, at one point 40 people were living there.

The conditions were described by the Policia Nacional as ‘unhealthy and overcrowded’.

Investigative work is ongoing to determine whether other people assisted the tenant in exploiting migrants who were vulnerable.
