Mallorca hotel worker who suffered broken jaw at hands of British tourist says his life ‘has been ruined’


A MAGALUF hotel worker who had his jaw broken by a British tourist says his life ‘has been ruined’.

Mallorca’s Speakers Ultima Hora newspaper, he expressed his disgust that the offender is back in the UK after paying bail of just €1,000.

The married father of three is forced to take sleeping tablets and is fed through a straw.

In the early hours on June 1, three people, who weren’t staying at the hotel in question, tried to gain access to the guest room.

The Briton, aged 33, punched in his jaw the brave 29-year old employee who had blocked their path.

The victim was injured and lost a number of teeth while the trio fled.

The Guardia Civil searched hotels in the area to locate the British tourist. He was found in his room and arrested.

He was brought before a court on an accusation of serious injury but released.

The worker chose anonymity in his testimonial Ultima Hora interview.

The hotel ID bracelets he had seen in the area allowed him to quickly determine that three non-guests tried to gain access.

He said Ultima Hora: “They wanted to go up the elevator, but I told them that they couldn’t.”

“There was a drunk girl that started pushing me, and I threatened to contact the police,” added he.

“The woman turned off my mobile phone.” In a struggle seconds later, one of the men punched me in the jaw.

The group fled while the employee expressed shock at the attitude of hotel receptionist.

He looked outside and returned to his job as if it had never happened. He didn’t call the police.

He called the Guardia Civil officers who arrived and the hotel’s security guard.

The victim was told Ultima Hora After undergoing an emergency operation to reconstruct his damaged molar, he spent 3 days in hospital.

One of the consequences was that he had paid €3,000 to a local academy for a course but could not continue- for the time being.

“This has ruined my plans for the short term to improve myself, Then, there’s also The director of the Academy understands what has happened, and I will return to my studies as soon as I am able,” he said.

He also criticised the hotel for calling his wife when he was operating in the operating room and asking only how long he’d be away from work.

He said, “They only cared about that.”
