Patricia Navarro is the Andalusian government’s delegate to Malaga. She announced that over 25,500 people have changed their lives through training programs for employment over the last three years.
Navarro, during a visit to Benalmadena’s Open Commercial Centre, praised the region’s unwavering dedication to encourage job growth and promote local commerce through a substantial financial backing.
Joined by Jesús Fortes, president of the centre, and Rosa María González, head of the Benalmadena Merchants and Entrepreneurs Association, Navarro marvelled at the charm of local shops. She said that these businesses provide a warm, personalized service, and offer excellent products, which keep the cultural heartbeat of Malaga Province strong.
Malaga Province, Andalusia’s second largest commercial powerhouse, is a success. It boasts 33,701 businesses, or 21 percent of the total in the region. Benalmadena, with its 1,253 business establishments, is among the top commercial districts in the province. This sector is a source of jobs and economic growth.
Since 2022, the Andalusian government has poured over €6.8 million into Malaga Province’s commerce and artisanal crafts, which has helped nearly 300 trade associations, small businesses, and artisans. A fresh €1.93 million grant package, including €1.37 million for digital innovation, is enabling shops to take on cutting-edge tools like advanced software and online marketing to thrive in today’s market. Another €557,607 is energising municipal projects and trade associations to modernise local commerce.
Navarro spotlighted a staggering €400 million investment in province-wide employment, with €219.3 million dedicated to give a helping hand to youth, women, and long-term unemployed residents. In Benalmadena, €7 million has spurred job creation and training, including €2.5 million for initiatives like Emplea-T, which has improved the lives of 141 unemployed locals. Across the Costa del Sol, €20 million has given an impulse to similar efforts, with €107.4 million province-wide empowering 6,823 individuals. The future of Malaga Province is bright thanks to bold investments made in its people.
