RAILWAY strikes have left Malaga commuters stranded on the Cercanias network for a third day in a row, disrupting rush hour travel.
Renfe’s local commuter lines, including C-1 (Malaga–Fuengirola) and C-2 (Malaga–Alora), will be hit hardest today, with around 60 out of 130 scheduled trains operating.
The remaining services are cancelled. This will leave thousands of passengers scrambling to find alternative transportation.

Yesterday’s strike caused 85 out of the 132 scheduled services to be suspended on the C-1-C-2 line.
CGT spokesperson, who is one of the unions involved in the strike, predicts that 60 of the 130 scheduled trains will operate today.
Renfe informs passengers via WhatsApp of cancellations, and offers replacement buses for affected services.
The strike is part a wider wave of industrial action in Spain’s railway sector, after two fatal accidents on the rails earlier this year raised safety concerns.
Even though the major unions CCOO UGT and Semaf reached an agreement with Ministry of Transport, and suspended their strike action, today’s walkout continues.

However, minority unions CGT and Sindicato Ferroviario have refused to end the strike, arguing that the agreement is ‘insufficent’.
The strike is expected continue until this evening at 11pm.
Renfe advises passengers to check the schedule and find alternative transportation if possible.
