Malaga Airport, which is used by tourists and travellers, is experiencing ongoing disruptions at the moment After a serious breakdown in the UK’s air visitor management infrastructure.

On Tuesday, a technical issue with the flight information processing systems of Nationwide Aviation Site Visitors Providers and National Air Site Visitors (NATS) affected UK airspace. For security, air traffic controllers must manually control flight plans and restrict the airspace. The system outage caused the cancellation of more than 1,300 flights, including London Heathrow (London Gatwick), Manchester, and Birmingham.

Málaga Hub Badly Hit

Málaga Costa del Sol Airport (AGP) has seen dozens of inbound and outbound flights delayed or cancelled As airways scramble for a repositioning of stranded aircraft and flight crews.

NATS engineers were able to resolve the technical issue. The knock-on effect is continuing to affect European flight corridors. Main operators servicing the UK – Málaga route are warning passengers that schedules stay closely disrupted whereas they clear the backlog.

Transport authorities have advised all passengers travelling from the UK to Spain not to go away for airport App or the official Aena Airport app to check the live status of their flight.

What passengers should know

Below are the UK261 and EU261 Passenger Welfare Laws Travellers who are caught up in extreme delays can receive assistance.

  • Refreshment Vouchers: On quick routes, the airline is legally obliged to offer vouchers of food and drink for delays exceeding 2 hours.

  • In a single day Lodging: The airline should provide transportation and lodging in the resort for those whose flights are delayed.

  • Rebooking & Refunds: Passengers can request a refund for the full amount or rebooking on a subsequent flight.

When a flight is cancelled, travel experts recommend that passengers contact their airline through digital channels. Or cellular applications that are not quite ready at airport terminal queues.
