Residents are growing increasingly frightened after wild boars attacked their pets and caused damage in Malaga.
Since October, the monitoring has been conducted to count and track herds.
There are around 100 ‘problematic’ animals, according to hunter’s organisation Grupo Scaes-Fac, that observes the animals at night.

To date, 23 boars were caught with anesthetic darts. The animals were then given a lethal dose of injection.


Boars are considered pests by environmental and health authorities.
Experts also state that wild boars and humans cannot coexist, as they can both spread diseases susceptible to humans.

Recent droughts are thought to have been the main reason for the animals’ arrival in the city.
The city’s outskirts have been fitted with water wells, feeding points and other features to keep the boars away from the city.
In the province of Malaga, it is estimated that there are 22,000 wild boars.
