The city center is always packed with families and people eager to watch the latest light show, along with festive music and drone displays above the port. This year’s event looks even more spectacular than before. This is one the biggest events for Christmas in the country. People come from far and wide because it’s a celebration of Christmas tradition.
The light extravaganza starts
Malaga Council The official announcement is that the world-famous lights of Christmas will be turned on at 7pm, Friday November 28th, in Calle Larios. This coincides perfectly with Black Friday. The Costa del Sol Capital’s annual light show is set to be the biggest ever. With 2.7 million LED lights, it will illuminate over 500 streets. It is a new record. Calle Larios, the iconic street in Costa del Sol will be transformed into a “celestial angel tunnel”, while Alameda Principal will become an enchanted woodland.
Daily light & sound shows will run three times every evening at 6.30pm, 8pm and 10pm (except December 24 & 31), synchronised to festive music that draws hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. The illuminations are on display until January 6 with weekend hours extended to 2am.
Malaga botanical garden light show – highlight of Christmas in Costa del Sol
The magical sands of 2025 ‘Alice Christmas’ experience at La Concepción Botanical Garden, which opens the same night, featuring giant illuminated characters and free candy floss for children.
Pro tip from locals and experienced visitors to the park: skip the 7pm switch-on crush and catch the 10pm show instead – same magic, half the crowd.
Immersive Christmas Show is inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland transforms historic gardens in nine worlds of fantasy, light, and music. The nighttime adventure takes visitors on an amazing journey where they can meet characters such as Alice and the Mad Hatter in stunning locations, like the Ice Lake or the Golden Heart Dome.
The light show offers a unique experience that combines art, technology and nature. It celebrates the spirit of Christmas while highlighting the cultural value and botanical richness of La Concepción and will no doubt be one of Malaga’s most magical festive events.
