Local residents in Ibiza’s Cala d’Hort de Sant Josep have blocked access to famous views.

Private landowners are making it difficult for tourists to access the Es Vedra viewpoint or the historic Torre de Savinar in order to reduce the number of tourists and protect the environment.

They’ve strategically placed large boulders to obstruct unofficial parking areas and have erected ‘No Entry’ signs to deter visitors.

Es Vedra is an uninhabited limestone island rising 413m over the Mediterranean. It is famous for its stunning sunsets and mythical allure.

Tourists are drawn to its breathtaking scenery, which has led to an overcrowding problem and environmental degradation.

Residents in the area have reported an increase of illegal activities. These include unauthorised alcohol sales and performances by DJs without permission.

Even last summer, the authorities launched an investigation regarding an alleged illegal event involving DJ Diplo.

Wedding celebrations, photo shoots for commercials and other filming projects are also a nuisance to locals.

Ibizans are frustrated by the lack effective oversight and have taken matters in their own hands.

The protesters insist that they are not trying to cause any inconvenience, but rather to encourage authorities to introduce regulated parking, create protected pathways, and establish official viewpoints with essential facilities such as restrooms.

Safety concerns have also been raised by the unregulated surge in visitors.

Es Vedra viewpoints have seen a variety of incidents in the past, including injuries, deaths and emergency rescues. These incidents highlight the importance of safety protocols and structured management.
