Lights, camera, Korea! Asian TV show films on location along the Costa del Sol – including taking over the heart of Marbella

This week, MARBELLA’s busy La Alameda is transformed into a movie set as a South Korean television production. Surely Tomorrow Costa del Sol is a hotspot for tourists.

The romantic comedy series, starring major Korean actor Park Seo-Jun alongside Won Ji-An – known to international audiences as player number 380 in Squid Game – has been filming across Malaga province, with Tuesday’s shoot creating quite the spectacle in Marbella’s city centre.

Locals and tourists became part of the production when the tree-lined street was transformed into a busy marketplace.

Warning signs in both Spanish and English alerted passersby that they could be ‘filmed and photographed during the production’ and that ‘by walking here you give consent to appear in the audiovisual work.’

The Korean wave of entertainment that has swept the world following Netflix Squid Game Amazon has invested heavily in Korean content, a sign that it is paying attention to the phenomenon.

Today is Surely Tomorrow commissioned by Amazon Prime Video, tells the story of a couple who fell in love in their youth, separated, and later reconnect – a classic romantic setup being played out against the backdrop of Spain’s sunny coastline.

Production has been active on the Costa del Sol. Filming was completed in Malaga before the team moved to Marbella. They plan to return to the provincial centre later this week.

Park Seo-Jun, a South Korean actor who is well-known in the West but little-known outside of Korea, brings a lot of star power to this project.

Amazon has confirmed that this series will be launched in over 240 different countries. No release date has yet to be announced.
