Lidl opens its third Marbella shop to serve San Pedro Alcantara


Lidl is expanding in Marbella with the opening of its third store in the city, a new supermarket in San Pedro Alcantara with an investment of more than €6.5 million.

The hotel is located on Calle Araucaria. modern shop covers nearly 1,500 square metres The parking lot has 96 spaces and three charging stations for electric vehicles. The store, which was opened to the public in February, incorporates many eco-friendly features. This includes 535 square metres solar panels on top of the building, LED lighting and air-conditioning and refrigeration systems that use low-energy.

The new outlet, in addition to the approximately 940 direct positions Lidl has across the Malaga Province, is its largest workforce within Andalusia. It also ranks third nationally behind Barcelona, Madrid and Barcelona.

Eighth opening in the Malaga Region in only 5 years

This is Lidl‘s eighth store opening in Malaga province over the past five years, following recent additions in Malaga capital, Benalmadena (2025), and Alhaurin de la Torre (2025). Now, the chain operates 35 stores throughout the province.

The store is open Monday through Saturday, 9am-9.30pm, and focuses on local products. It offers items like fresh cheeses from Vega e Hijos and Victoria beers. Regional charcuterie and fruits and vegetables are also available. A deluxe bakery module provides fresh breads and pastries.

A ceremonial visit featured San Pedro Alcantara’s deputy mayor, Javier García Ruiz, together with Sophie Chatel, Lidl’s regional director for Andalusia (Malaga zone), and other council representatives.

Lidl makes a big step forward in Andalucia

Chatel thanked Marbella’s local council for its backing and called the opening a major step in Lidl Marbella’s growth strategy. It will allow Lidl to expand its western presence while providing quality shopping with competitive prices, while keeping the customer’s convenience and sustainability at the forefront.

Since entering Malaga in 1997, Lidl’s annual economic impact in the province reaches €373 million, or about 0.95 per cent of local GDP, while supporting over 7,643 direct, indirect, and induced jobs, according to PwC data.
