La Marquesa Golf in Rojales is the first course in Spain with a par-6. It is a major event in golf because most holes are either par-4 or par-5. The sport has very few par-6 holes, which require a longer game.
The new par-6 hole was designed by Iñaki de La Cuadra, who has worked with famous golf designer Peter Harradine. When played from the white professional tees, it is 644 metres. It’s the longest par-5 course in Spain, even when played from a lower level. La Marquesa is unique because it forces players to think strategically (they must plan ahead).
La Marquesa isn’t making headlines for the first time: there is another hole on the course that is famous, which is the replica of the famous 17th par-3 at TPC Sawgrass. The second course will attract more golfers to Rojales and increase tourism. La Marquesa Golf is a challenging and unique course that continues to attract golfers from all over Costa Blanca.
