La Cala Lions round off the season with a €2,000 cheque to AFESOL

La Cala Lions recently held a delightful BBQ fundraiser at Club Naranja in Calahonda, raising over €1,300 for local causes. Sandie organised a funny quiz, there was a tombola full of impressive prizes and Nickki provided music. Avalon generously sponsored the event.

A highlight of the evening was a €2,000 donation presented to AFESOL (Asociación de Familiares y Personas con Enfermedades Mentales Costa del Sol), to support their vital work. La Cala Lions extended their gratitude to all participants and supporters for helping make the evening a great success.

The Lions are gearing up for a busy new season in September. The season starts with President David Kay’s Dinner, which will take place on the 6th of September at Restaurante El Olivo La Cala de Mijas. Lion Wynson’s Memory Day at Miraflores Tennis Club on September 13, which supports children with cancer, and other life-threatening illness. The Diabetic Support Group Autumn Bazaar will take place on September 27 at Bar Tuta’s terraces, with stall reservations available for a €10 donation per table (contact: 607879450).

La Cala Lions extend their heartfelt gratitude to all their volunteers. This includes those who support their shops, Diabetic Support Groups, Alzheimer’s Carer’s Support Groups, and home care services. Also, they acknowledged the contribution of the Donors Club and Friends of the Lions. Sandie, vice-president and social secretary, will lead the Lions into another year of fun, fairs and good food. Watch out for their summer sales and join them for an event-driven year.
