Malaga’s port is once more a spectacle of extravagant opulence. The Yas, the largest, most powerful, and most luxurious superyacht in the world, docked at the city’s harbor, leaving everyone on Muelle Uno speechless.
Ownered by Dubai Crown Prince Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum – known as Fazza to his close friends – the Yas is an extravagant floating masterpiece.
Yas, which measures 141 meters in length, can accommodate more than 100 people including guests and crew. Valued at approximately €160 million, it ranks among the most expensive yachts in the world. Originally launched in 1978 as the HNLMS Piet Hein, a Kortenaer-class frigate of the Royal Netherlands Navy, the vessel served in the United Arab Emirates Navy as Al Emirat before its transformation – essentially a “pimp my ride” of the most expensive kind imaginable. ADMShipyards, Abu Dhabi, began the rebuilding of the frigate in 2011. The original steel superstructure was replaced with advanced composite materials, creating the sleek, modern and extremely fast superyacht that was delivered in 2015.
The Yas is a sophisticated building with a range of features including a helipad and swimming pools. Pierrejean Vision Design Studio designed the elegant minimalist décor. The yacht’s distinctive blue-tinted windows are a striking feature. Details about the yacht are scarce as its owner is very private.
This floating wonder is shrouded in mystery as the Yas has no idea why it’s visiting Malaga or how long it will stay.
