The Italian tennis player Jannik Siner, world number one seed, won Wimbledon Open in four-sets to put behind him his Paris defeat 35 days earlier against Carlos Alcaraz.

Sinner has won his first Wimbledon championship. With his revenge win over Alcaraz, Sinner prevented the Spanish champion from winning a third title in London.

Sinner avenges defeat

Sinner won Wimbledon 35 days after losing to Alcaraz, in what was deemed by many to be the most epic French Roland Garros Open ever final. The five-hour and 29 minute match lasted more than five hours.

Sinner was forced at one stage to delay serving when a Champagne cork almost hit him. The crowd booed and Alison Hughes, the British umpire, rebuked Sinner.

Sinner, when he was presented with the prestigious Wimbledon cup, said: “It was a tough defeat in Paris.” “But, it doesn’t matter how you lose or win the important tournaments. You just have to figure out what went wrong and work on it.”

He added, “This was also one of the reasons that I’m holding my trophy.” I am very glad that I held my nerves. “It’s an incredible feeling.”

‘It’s difficult to lose’

Alcaraz, after his Wimbledon loss and the chance to win a third straight victory in London said: “It is difficult to lose.” Jannik is the first person I want to congratulate. It’s well deserved. Unbelievable! Two weeks in London, playing amazing tennis.”

The young, brilliant tennis player, from Murcia, Spain said: “I am very proud of what I do.” In the beginning of this season, I was struggling a bit on and off the court. But then I suddenly started to have joy again on the tennis court. I want to continue to play, to keep bringing happiness to the court.”

Rivals forever?

Sinner became the first Italian tennis player to win Wimbledon’s singles championship. He is now a 4-time Grand Slam Champion, according to the Guardian reported.

He breaks his ­overall tie with an assortment of famous names, including Arthur Ashe, Andy Murray and Stan Wawrinka. He ends Alcaraz’s five-match winning streak against him. This adds a new dimension into a rivalry which is likely to determine the outcome of many major tournaments in the near future.
