Her first ‘business venture’ was selling hand-drawn pictures of Pete’s Dragon to her classmates for 10p—just enough to fuel her childhood sweet tooth.
Art has always been a constant in my life, from childhood sketches to A level coursework. But it wasn’t until university that Michele had her first breakthrough—when her personal tutor admired a large abstract painting she had created and offered to buy it. This was her first significant sale, aside from the sales of Pete’s Dragon.
Motivated by this success, she began showcasing her work in local cafés and expos, gaining a steady audience.
Michele Winfield shares her artistic journey, from childhood sketches and creative retreats to the present.
Michele and Tim, after 35 years of managing a care facility, embraced the adventure and traveled for three and half years in their Campervan. She learned digital art during this period, using a stylus and a simple pen to create a new style.
Michele, who had moved back to her home, began selling her art at the Amigos Market. Her online clientele grew as she did. In 2017, she took a bold leap, renting a 500m² space where she created a gallery and studio. It was not only her workspace but also a place where artists at all levels could grow and learn. Michele spent the next three-years in this space.
Today, she loves sharing her skills through workshops at Cahoots in Mojácar, exclusive retreats, and private group sessions.
Michele splits her time between workshops and commissions. She says that one of the most rewarding aspects of teaching is seeing students flourish as professional artists after they first picked up a paintbrush in her workshops.
Michele is inspired by the creative process, whether she’s guiding complete beginners to painting or seasoned artists. You can join her workshop or commission a painting. visit her website.
