The countdown for this year has already started. This is an event that attracts hundreds of thousand of people every year.
The first event held in December of 1994 involved eight countries at the time. Now, it is expected that 33 countries will be participating this year.
International Fair of Countries will take place from April 30 to May 4.
Although the Town Hall is unable to provide an exact figure for the number of visitors that this event draws each year, it has stated that its popularity surpasses other activities such as the Fair dedicated to Virgen del Rosario or the Carmen night, and even the Marenostrum Music Festival.
The Fair this year will be held between April 30 and 5th, so mark your calendars now. The parade is a must-see, and it is bigger than ever. It will commence on May 1, starting at 11.30am at the Plaza de España and arriving at the fairgrounds at around 1.00pm.
Special train schedule for International Fair of Countries 2020
Each country will have a stall that will be decorated in a way that reflects its culture. The stalls will feature craft displays, music and delicious food, reflecting the cuisine of each country. The stalls remain open until 1.00pm or 2.00am or even 4.00am, depending if the next day is a business day.
Safety measures have been implemented in order to be prepared for this influx and as a response to the overcrowding that took place last year. To avoid crowding in the aisles, side streets and the rear of the stands are being used.
To encourage people to leave their car at home, a special timetable will be introduced: trains will run every 20 minutes between 10.20pm – 12.20am. Trains will leave at 5.20am, and 5.00am to accommodate those still enjoying the festivities.
