The price of domestic flights within Spain and travel packages increased by almost 25% in comparison to the previous months. The price of hotels and guesthouses has also increased by 30% since the beginning of 2025.
Inflationary pressures were also fueled by higher electricity rates and the costlier fresh fruit. Electricity rates have increased by 3.5% just in June, and fresh fruit prices are up over 20% this year.
What has become more costly?
Jewellery and costume jewellery grew the most in the last year (22,8%). Also, chocolate and coffee showed double-digit gains. Eggs ranked 18% higher than other essentials.
Additional notable increases include
- Domestic tourism services grew by 23.4% in June
- International Flights: +7.1% in the month of June
- Insurance for motor vehicles: 8.8% increase in June
What is now cheaper?
Not all products followed the upward trend. Olive oil has dropped dramatically, now 45% less expensive than it was a year earlier. Sugar prices have also fallen by about 20%. Clothing costs fell last month as a result of summer sales, with apparel and footwear both falling by 0.3%.
Household costs: A mixed picture
The cost of housing expenses rose by 4.2% over the past year. This was mainly because of electricity. Rent prices increased slightly while mobile phone service remained flat, and some TV subscriptions actually declined.
Car insurance has nearly offset the savings made by drivers with its steep increase.
These data show how inflation in Spain is unevenly distributed across different sectors. The pressures on household budgets are primarily due to tourism and energy, but some food and clothing items are also helping to limit the price increases.
