The Guardia began an investigation after a resident, who was a medic, alerted them to the large numbers of cats that had died. He suspected they were poisoned.

He recognized the symptoms of poisoning in humans.

After a thorough investigation, several witness statements were obtained. Poison was also detected in a dish located in a local park.

The Guardia located a similar container and several dead cats in the courtyard next to the suspect’s home.

The animals died after being poisoned with two different types of poison.

The Complutense University of Madrid, in collaboration with authorities, examined several cats to confirm their presence of toxic chemicals.
