The stunning photos taken by Gibraltar photographer Brandon Avellano capture the moment when Arsenal Women beat their Spanish rivals Barcelona in order to win the first Champions League title they have won in 18 year.

The Gunners stunned the European giants with a goal by Swedish international Stina Schwarzstenius. They had won three of the previous four editions of European Women’s Football’s premier tournament.

Barcelona, with two-time Balon d’Or winner Aitana Putellas and Alexia Bonmati in their lineup, were heavy favorites at the bookies before the match but left Portugal empty handed after an impressive performance from Renee Slegers’ team.

More than 4,500 Arsenal fans had travelled to the Portuguese capital in order to attend the match. Barcelona supporters also made a big impact on the atmosphere, with thousands of them in attendance.

Bonmati declared: “I feel absolutely devastated.” I cannot believe it. I’d like to play the game over again, but do things differently. “But this is football.”
