IBIZA’S legendary opening weekend brought crime, arrests, and drug-related offenses to the island.
The Guardia Civil has confirmed that eight arrests were made during a massive security operation conducted across the Balearic Islands to coincide with 2025’s nightlife season.
The crackdown targeted the island’s most popular party spots and was launched in order to prevent drug trafficking and petty theft as well as violent incidents and disruptions at one of busiest weekends.

Five of the eight detained individuals face drug-trafficking charges.
Two more were arrested, one for reckless driving and the other for serious resistance, assault on a cop.

The police also fined 76 people who were caught with small amounts of illegal substances in public places.
In the course of this operation, officers checked over 200 vehicles and more than 100 people.
Seized substances included cocaine, marijuana, ecstasy, crystal meth, ketamine, tusi – also known as pink cocaine – and nitrous oxide.
Specialized units from Agrupacion de Reserva y Seguridad deployed from Valencia supported local forces.
The teams are well-trained in crowd control, managing large events and are often called upon to assist in policing major festivals and club launches on the island.
The Guardia Civil reported that despite the arrests and seizures the weekend was free of serious incidents.
In a press release, the police force stated that “everything has been proceeding as normal”. It added that the increased police presence would continue in the days to come as more venues opened their doors for summer.
Ibiza’s opening weekend is the unofficial beginning of Europe’s clubbing season, and it attracts partygoers from all over the world.
