Horror in Malaga: Police officer and three ‘thieves’ die in head on car crash

Four people were killed in a head-on collision that occurred during a high speed police chase along the Costa del Sol.

A POLICIA National officer and three suspected pharmacy thieves were killed in the early morning hours this morning when their vehicles collided on the A-7 near Torremolinos and burst into fire.

The incident occurred at 5:30am, after three criminals allegedly drove their vehicle into the front of a pharmacy to steal cash and drugs.

The police immediately pursued the thieves as they fled eastwards out of Malaga’s city centre. But the pursuit became deadly when the suspects drove the wrong direction down the busy A-7 coast highway.

This is described as one of the most serious road accidents in Malaga so far this year.

The initial investigation was conducted by Guardia Civil, but now the Policia Nacional is in charge.

The CCTV footage captured by the DGT’s traffic cameras on the motorway is crucial to determining what exactly happened during the deadly chase.

Residents and tourists who travel between Malaga, Marbella, and Gibraltar use the A-7 as the main coastal highway connecting Costa del Sol resorts.
