Help at home caring for a loved one

Home care for loved ones

La Cala de Mijas Lions Club is launching a new initiative that will support caregivers by providing free home assistance to those caring for their loved ones around the clock.

Announcing the programme on May 27, it is led by Lions Alzheimer’s Support Group and open to anyone who cares for someone with dementia, stroke, heart issue, multiples sclerosis, Parkinson’s or general health issues.

The service provides a fully qualified, registered, and vetted nurse who will come to the caregiver’s home, allowing them precious time to run errands, visit the doctor, or simply relax at a café without the stress of preparing and taking their loved one along. The initiative is designed to ensure that the person receiving care remains in a familiar environment and feels safe.

The Lions Club encourages anyone who knows someone in need to reach out for this assistance. Sandie from La Cala Lions explained that they understand the challenges associated with constant caregiving. They wanted to provide a helping hand. For a confidential chat, contact Sandie on 663 529 280 or email smtpackhorse@gmail.com. This programme aims to ease the burden of full-time caring and shows the Lions Club’s commitment to the La Cala de Mijas Community.
