Historic ship finds treasure on Costa del Sol – La Nao Santa María moors at Sotogrande and Fuengirola

The historic ship, La Nao Santa María, which recreates the vessel that played a vital role in the discovery of America, is about to make its first-ever visits to the ports of Sotogrande and Fuengirola this November and December.

The ship that brings to life the “feat that changed history” will offer guided tours on its various decks. Visitors can learn about the legend and the vessel’s history, and also get a sense of what it was like for sailors over 500 years ago.

Sotogrande visit

The first stop on its schedule is the Port of Sotogrande, where La Nao Santa María will be docked from November 21 to 23. Visits to the ship are available daily between 10am and 6.30pm. The crew recommends that visitors purchase tickets ahead of time to avoid waiting in long lines.

Fuengirola stopover

After its visit to Sotogrande the Nao will sail to Fuengirola harbour, where it is open to the public between November 25 and December 8 operating on the same schedule.

Fuengirola was the first Spanish port the ship visited after its major European tour, which included stops in France and England.

The general admission fees are the same for both ports.
