The current heatwave in Spain, which has brought temperatures to an exceptionally high level for the month of June, is set end on Sunday. A new one will begin next Thursday.
It is unlikely that eastern parts of the country will notice any significant differences.
The State Meteorological Agency Aemet says that a front is expected to bring some changes this weekend, especially in the northeast and east. Temperatures will drop in these regions early next year.

It’s due to the low front that comes from the Atlantic. The storms could be strong locally, with hail and strong wind gusts.
While temperatures will be hot, they’ll drop a little on Sunday.
However, the valleys of Ebro and Tagus will see temperatures above 38C again, as well as Guadiana, Guadalquivir, and Mallorca is expected to reach over 35C.
Aemet has predicted storms and instabilities for the majority of Spain, particularly the north.
The temperatures will remain relatively stable, except in the South-West.
On Tuesday and Wednesday the instability will probably continue, with storms and showers along with a ‘clear’ drop in temperatures in the west and central areas, according to Aemet spokesperson, Ruben del Campo.
It will be hotter in the Balearic Islands. Mallorca is forecast to reach 36C, and the Ebro valley 38C.
Del Campo warned that a new thermal rise starting on Thursday will bring ‘very intense’ heat for most of Spain.
