Mallorca has seen a notable increase in daytime temperatures. By the end of the week, they will reach 30 or even more degrees. North Costa Blanca and South Costa Blanca see similar warming, with coastal areas feeling the build-up in humidity and heat, especially the Alicante area, which will see highs of 37ºC around Thursday.
Murcia sees a sharp increase as the warm air mass settles. Almeria faces potential peaks near 35º in inland spots while sea breezes moderate beach zones slightly. Costa del Sol prepares for intense warmth, especially inland from Malaga toward western stretches, where values may even approach 38ºC.
UK and Western Europe are being brutalized with a “heat-dome” fuelled by the dry air of Africa’s desert and a “constrained” jetstream.
The main cause of this heat wave, which is almost unprecedented in its intensity, is climate change. Without fossil fuels it would have been impossible. pic.twitter.com/2LlFCoU2ER

The week ahead for the Southern and Eastern Coasts
Maximum readings between 35ºC and 40ºC are expected across inland western Andalucia and Extremadura on Saturday and Sunday. Holiday regions in the east and south register 30ºC to 36ºC.
Temperatures are high at night and coastal zones cannot cool down. Heat-related illnesses are more likely to affect vulnerable groups, such as the elderly and outdoor workers.
Broader European spread
France reported 30 to 36 degrees today in the southwest. Britain is looking forward to near 30ºC in parts over the weekend with tropical nights around 20ºC minimum. Central Europe and Mediterranean basin will be experiencing a significant warming through the first week of next year.
As the high-pressure system develops, Spain is now facing an increasingly intense heat wave in late May. We can expect a muggier, slightly cloudier week with some light breezes.
