Calahonda, Spain – April 7, 2025 — A disturbing incident at The Irish Times bar in Calahonda on Sunday night has left a 62-year-old tourist hospitalized with a serious head injury, raising concerns about safety and staff response at the well-known local establishment.
Eyewitnesses report that a local resident had a friend visiting him at the bar, when a group raging young men entered. The group told the couple to leave, allegedly without provocation. After a confrontation, one of the men allegedly smashed glass in the head of the visitor, leaving him unconscious on the floor and heavily bleeding.
The attackers fled immediately. According to the victims who were there, security personnel arrived not long after and provided little to no help. The bar manager transported the injured victim to the Marbella Hospital’s emergency department, but did not provide any additional support.
When the victims returned the next day to file their complaint, they claim they were treated in a dismissive manner by the staff.
The Irish Times is in bad shape, said the resident. “Calahonda also suffers from a poor reputation as a place that’s safe and friendly.”
The Irish Times or the local authorities have yet to make an official announcement. Residents are demanding an investigation into this incident and how the bar handled the situation.
