Hamilton team looking for that ‘sweet spot’

Hamilton team looking for that ‘sweet spot’

Lewis Hamilton has played down his need for a strong performance at the Canadian Grand Prix. This is despite the fact that his Ferrari tenure began with a rocky start.

Hamilton was fifth on the grid for Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. He shares seven wins, a record, with Michael Schumacher. Hamilton remains optimistic about the integration of his Maranello team and rejects external perceptions.

Hamilton’s move from Mercedes to Ferrari last year prompted the highest expectations. But the results so far are disappointing. He has won a sprint race in China, and finished third in Miami’s Sprint Race. However, he has not been able to consistently reach the podium. He is currently sixth on the drivers’ rankings with 71, but trails teammate Charles Leclerc (who has won three podiums already in five races) by 23. Ferrari’s construction campaign is also in decline, as it lags 197 points behind leaders. This is a sharp contrast to the competitive performance against McLaren last season.

Hamilton and engineers looking for that ‘sweet spot’

Hamilton told the press that he did not believe Canada needed a decisive result. “I do not feel as though I am desperate for one,” Hamilton said. “It probably looks worse on the outside than it is inside.” He believed that Ferrari was still working to refine its processes, specifically with the SF-25. Hamilton said that the way Ferrari set up the car is totally different, and he emphasized the constructive discussions he had with his engineers in order to find the “sweet spot” of the car.

The 105 times Grand Prix winner highlighted the gradual process to aligning his 18 years of racing experience with Ferrari’s method. “There’s a certain way they like to work, and I’m like, ‘Hold on, that doesn’t make sense,'” he explained. Hamilton still hopes for a successful weekend in Montreal where he’s done well historically. Hamilton is focusing on a more steady progression as Ferrari strives to close the gap between them and the rest of the field. This could indicate that Ferrari’s internal progress will soon be reflected at the track.
