GWM launches new double-cab pickup

GWM has announced its upcoming launch for the POER300 double cab pickup truck. Globally, GWM is a technology company, whose business includes automobile and parts design, R&D, production, sales and service. The UK’s GWM ORA business officially launches in 2022 with the all-electric ORA 03 here in the UK.  The company’s initial plans for expansion into Spain were cancelled, but these rugged pick up trucks might still be able to tempt ex-pats back to the UK.

Scheduled to arrive in dealerships from next month the POER300 (pronounced “POWER”) double-cab pick-up will be powered exclusively by GWM’s robust 2.4-litre turbo‑diesel engine, delivering 183ps of power and 480 Nm of torque. This efficient yet powerful engine will return 32.7mpg in combined driving and is paired with a new nine-speed automatic transmission and full-time 4×4 system with low-range capability.

With a towing capacity of 3500kg braked and a payload weighing 1,000kg, the POER300 can tow generators, heavy equipment, livestock trailers, or caravans.

In a very short time, the POER300 (also known as Cannon Ute in certain global markets) has become a serious competitor to the well-known and respected rivals of Europe and Japan. The vehicle is consistently ranked among the top 10 most popular pickups, and its owners have quickly praised it for both its performance and overall value. GWM is hoping to repeat this success in the UK.

The exterior features a bold design, soft-touch materials and a simplified layout of the console. Inside, there’s an infotainment screen with a 12.3″ touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, as well as a 7.0″ digital driver’s display, and a wireless charging station for mobile devices.

This vehicle features multiple intelligent terrain modes (Normal (Eco), Sport (Snow, Mud and Sand), as well as an electronically-activated rear differential lock. There is an off-road approach angle of 27°, departure angle of 25°, and 230mm ground clearance.

The following are some of the ways to get in touch with each other Three-tiered trim range includes Lux, Ultra, and Vanta. All variants are covered by a 5-year/125k guarantee. Standard equipment features include 18-inch alloys with leatherette seats, keyless access, and rear park sensors. Moving up the range sees heated/ventilated seats, ambient lighting, privacy glass, sunroof, tailgate step, 360° camera and at the top-of-the-range a blacked-out exterior trim, wheel arches and black alloy wheels.

Prices start from €36,329/£31,495 for the lead-in Lux variant and GWM showrooms will have the vehicles from later in September.
