Gandia’s new hotel will be open in 2027. The concept of the project, which was unveiled at Urbalab in Gandia, is a radical departure from what’s currently available on the beach. The establishment will cater to business travellers, but will also be open to other types of guests, as the creators have stated.
The new hotel is not built by accident. It will be located in a location that is considered the future hub for economic development of Gandia. The hotel will be built in the Sanxo Llop Industrial Estate, where the hospital currently is located. It will also include other projects, such as the Novaedat Group’s social and healthcare complex, which has an investment of twelve million euros.
The new building will have three floors — a ground floor and two upper levels — housing a total of 105 rooms of varying sizes (single, double and family rooms). The building will have landscaped gardens as well as a swimming-pool, solarium, and parking space.
The Holiday Inn chain will manage the hotel and invest around 8 million euro, as was explained at the press conference. The hotel will accommodate visitors of all types: from tourists and city-goers to families visiting hospitalized patients.
Seond urban Hotel
The design is similar to the urban hotels of the chain. It takes advantage, not only of the close proximity of the healthcare center, but also of the nearby commercial areas, such as La Vital and Plaza Mayor as well as Carrefour and Myo Gandia as well as numerous businesses and logistics centres.
The hotel will have a green roof and passive design features to reduce energy consumption and CO₂ emissions. According to project managers, it will be low-impact visually and acoustically, respecting its surroundings and providing a peaceful atmosphere for guests.
The announcement was made at a press conference held at Urbalab, with the mayor, José Manuel Prieto, alongside Diego Álvarez, representative of IHG Hotels & Resorts, Marta Galdo from Senator Hotels & Resorts, the project architect Adrián Ferrer, the building owner Fernando Guillem, the general coordinator for Urban Planning Maite Alonso, and the tourism councillor Balbina Sendra.
The hotel is expected to be open by June 2027.
The mayor noted that projects of this nature “put Gandia on the frontline for the most dynamic cities due to increased investment and employment.” Prieto stated that the hotel would create 45 direct positions once it is operational. Prieto also announced that the Town Hall has prepared all procedures necessary to grant the permit immediately upon submission of the application, and will coordinate progress on the Sanxo Llop Urbanisation Works with the Hotel’s Construction.
Fernando Guillem who is leading the residential development in the industrial estate has highlighted the “strategic importance” of the Sanxo Llop area. It has been a long road, but the project is now taking shape, thanks to the combined efforts and the town council’s work.
Guillem believes that the project is “of vital importance to the city as it will create a number of stable jobs and provide an economic and social engine.”
The Borgia will join the Borgia as the second urban Hotel in Gandia. The planning of a third hotel, which is currently in progress, is underway as the urban development adaptation is required before construction can begin. The hotel will have a “boutique concept” and be built in the middle of Gandia right opposite the townhall, in the building owned by Vicky Foods.
