Internationally recognised artist Gabrielle Ange, based in Marbella, is currently exhibiting her paintings in the latest spring exhibition at Artsenal Inoxis in Alhaurín el Grande.

Ange was born in Paris. She studied at the School of Modern Art in Paris. Since then, she has lived and developed her style in many countries, including the US, Spain, and France. In France, Ange won the Grand Prix du Sud Ouest, the Biennale du Sud Ouest, and the Gran Prix d’Aquitaine.

I play some music. In fact, I teach music therapy classes. When my students begin to paint, I want them to feel something. We are all artists, so I want them to feel inspired. You can listen to Mozart, Enya or anything else, but the music must make you feel excited. It must be something that moves your soul. You’ll be able to let go if you find something that touches your soul.

The juxtaposition of cold and warm colours is what catches my eye. Is this something that you are aware of? ‘It depends upon the energy that you put in it. The colours are never cold.

Even though they appear abstract at first glance, the images have a tangible quality, as if one could reach out and grab them. The artist used hyperrealist work, actually nudes. From a very young age. ‘But there is a line of avatars,’ she tells me. She shows me a variety of head paintings. ‘Each child represented in the images is an avatar. Each child has a unique inside force.
